Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, the learner will be better able to:
Identify patients who are appropriate candidates for carotid artery surgery based on symptomatology, degree of stenosis, and imaging findings.
Differentiate between symptomatic and asymptomatic carotid artery disease and determine corresponding treatment strategies.
Screen for comorbidities, such as coronary artery disease and hypertension, that may impact surgical risk and outcomes.
Collaborate with anesthesiologists, nurses, pharmacists, and rehabilitation specialists to optimize intraoperative and postoperative care, including hemodynamic management and stroke prevention.
